If you own a Samsung or LG Smart TV, you already have everything you need to run IPTV — no Firestick, no Android box, no additional hardware required. Both Samsung's Tizen OS and LG's webOS support dedicated IPTV apps that turn your Smart TV into a full IPTV receiver. This guide covers the setup process for both platforms in 2026.
Which App Should You Use?
Two apps work particularly well on Samsung and LG Smart TVs:
- Smart IPTV (SIPTV) — one of the most widely used Smart TV IPTV apps, available on both Samsung Tizen and LG webOS. Clean interface, strong EPG support, and reliable playback
- SS IPTV — a free alternative with a user-friendly interface, available on both platforms. Excellent for beginners and supports M3U playlists directly
- TiviMate — primarily an Android app, but available on Samsung and LG via the Smart TV app stores on select models
Setting Up IPTV on a Samsung Smart TV
Samsung Smart TVs run the Tizen operating system. Follow these steps to get IPTV running:
Step 1: Open the Samsung App Store
Press the Home button on your Samsung remote and navigate to the Apps section. Use the search function to find Smart IPTV or SS IPTV. Both are available on all Samsung Smart TVs from 2016 onwards. Select Install and wait for the download to complete — it takes under a minute.
Step 2: Launch the App and Note Your MAC Address
Open Smart IPTV for the first time. The app will display your TV's MAC address on screen. Send this MAC address to Smooth Stream via WhatsApp — our team will activate your subscription against your TV's MAC address, which is the simplest activation method for Smart TVs.
Step 3: Add Your M3U Playlist
Alternatively, go to the Smart IPTV website from a phone or computer, enter your TV's MAC address, and paste your M3U playlist URL from Smooth Stream. Refresh the app on your TV and your channel list will load automatically.

LG Smart TVs run webOS and follow a very similar process. The LG Content Store is your starting point.
Step 1: Install SS IPTV from the LG Content Store
Press the Home button on your LG Magic Remote and open the LG Content Store. Search for SS IPTV — it is free and available on all LG Smart TVs from 2016 onwards running webOS 3.0 or later. Install the app and open it.
Step 2: Configure Your Playlist
Inside SS IPTV, go to Settings → Remote Playlist and enter your Smooth Stream M3U URL directly. Alternatively, use the Xtream Codes option if you prefer to log in with your username and password. The channel list and EPG load automatically once your playlist is added.
Step 3: Navigate and Set Favourites
Once loaded, use your LG Magic Remote to browse through categories. Sports, UK, USA, News, Movies, and international channels are all organised into groups. Press and hold on any channel to add it to your favourites for quick access.
Works on All Models — Older TVs Too
Both Smart IPTV and SS IPTV support Samsung TVs from 2016 onwards and LG TVs running webOS 3.0 or later (2016 onwards). If you have an older Smart TV that does not support these apps, the simplest solution is to plug an Amazon Firestick or Android box into the HDMI port — our Firestick setup guide covers this in full.
